Who is responsible
MoRide, is the controller of the personal data described here, under the Data Protection Act 2017 of Mauritius.
What we collect
- Account details: name, email address and a securely hashed password.
- Booking details: name, phone number, dates, pickup details and notes you give us.
- Messages you send to operators through MoRide, and reviews you write.
- For operators: business details, bank details, and licence and identity documents.
- Technical data needed to run the site, such as the sign-in cookie.
Why we use it
- To make and manage bookings, and to let travellers and operators talk to each other.
- To check that operators are licensed, as the marketplace promises.
- To handle bookings, operator commission and disputes.
- To keep MoRide safe — including detecting attempts to move bookings off the platform.
- To meet legal obligations, such as keeping financial records.
Who we share it with
The operator you book gets what they need to run your trip. Your phone number and theirs are exchanged once the booking is confirmed. We use service providers for hosting, file storage and, when enabled, payments and email, under contracts that protect your data. We do not sell personal data.
How long we keep it
For as long as your account is open, and afterwards only as long as the law requires — for example financial records. Operator documents are kept while they are relevant to verification.
Your rights
You can ask to access, correct or erase your personal data, or object to how it is used. You can also complain to the Data Protection Office of Mauritius.
